Uche O. Asonye, Attorney Managing Partner

Uches PicUche O. Asonye started this firm in 1993 with a dedication to providing all clients with high quality service. Since that time, the firm has grown to become a premier firm in the area of immigration and employment law.
Mr. Asonye has been selected as a Leading American Attorney . To be selected as a Leading American Attorney, attorneys must receive multiple recommendations from their peers in a statewide survey conducted by American Research Corporation. Fewer than 8% of the state's attorneys are Leading American Attorneys. Mr. Asonye was selected as a Leading American Attorney in both of his practice areas: Employment and Immigration Law.

Mr. Asonye received his Juris Doctorate degree in 1992 from Loyola University of Chicago. He is admitted to Illinois state courts, U.S. District Court (Northern District of Illinois), U.S. Tax Court, and the Federal Trial Bar. Mr. Asonye became a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) in 1987. He received a Bachelor's degree with honor from DePaul University in 1985, majoring in Accountancy and Computer Science. Mr. Asonye graduated at the top of his high school class prior to attending DePaul University.

Jonathan Downin, Attorney

Downin Bio PictureJonathan Downin is an Associate Attorney with Asonye & Associates. He has extensive experience in the field of immigration with many successful petitions for both business and personal immigration clients. Among Jonathan's accomplishments are numerous immigrant and non-immigrant visa approvals including those in the following categories: H-1B, National Interest Waivers, L, EB, and O; permanent residency and labor certification. In addition to his expertise in immigration, Jonathan also has considerable experience with intellectual property rights issues and dispute resolution, trademark filings, corporate document drafting, and contract-to-closing real estate deals. Jonathan has been admitted to practice before the bar of the Supreme Court of Illinois.

Daniel Asonye, Attorney

Daniel AsonyeDaniel Asonye is a Labor and Employment law associate attorney with the firm. He originally joined the firm as a law clerk in 2019. Dan represents clients in all of employment and labor law counseling and litigation. His practice focuses on employment contracts litigation, gender, race age, disability, race discrimination and harassment. He also represents clients in the areas of FMLA, civil rights violations, 1981, 1983, 1985, 1986 actions, retaliatory discharge, wage and hour, overtime and whistleblower, gender violence as well as state law claims of assault, battery, false imprisonment, gender violence, intentional infliction of emotional distress, LGBT and Transgender matters.

Gail Asonye, CPA/Business Operations Manager

Gails PicGail received her Bachelor of Science in Commerce from DePaul University. Her Major was Accountancy, with a Minor in Computer Information Systems. Gail has several years of experience as a Manager and Consultant for such companies as Price Waterhouse, and Computer Language Research/Research Institute of America.

Gail joined our staff in December 2004. She is involved in all aspects of our law firm, including human resources, administration, billing, strategic planning, and practice development. Gail is the kind of person who always looks and finds a better way to do things. Gail is also our computer wizard, and has never encountered a problem she could not solve.

In the little spare time she can find, Gail enjoys swimming, biking, and reading.

Sedenia Johnson, Office Manager

Sedenias PicSedenia Johnson is the Office Manager at Asonye & Associates. She has earned her Associates in Applied Science with her major as a Paralegal from Northwestern College in 2009. Sedenia is currently a member of Alpha Beta Gamma, a Business Honor Society.

She currently assists all staff members with various legal tasks and other administrative duties. Sedenia dedicates herself to the law firm of Asonye & Associates and continues to enhance her life activities and education.

Kelechi Asonye, Law Clerk

Kelechi AsonyeKelechi is a Law Clerk at Asonye & Associates. In 2022, Kelechi started her law program at Loyola University Chicago School of Law. Kelechi is a member of the Loyola Mock Trial Team. During her first year, Kelechi became the health law 1L representative in her section along with being a member of the Black Law Students Association. Kelechi will begin her second year in the fall.

Constance Young, Law Clerk

Constance YoungConstance is currently a Law Clerk at Asonye & Associates and a third-year law student at Loyola University Chicago School of Law, where she began her studies in 2022. She serves as a 711 Legal Intern for the Civitas Child Law Clinic, competes on the Constance Baker Motley Mock Trial team, holds the position of Assistant Executive Director for Loyola's Mock Trial program, and is a fellow at Loyola's Rodin Center of Social Justice.

Melissa Zindel, Law Clerk

Melissa ZindelMelissa Zindel is a law clerk at Asonye & Associates. Melissa is a J.D. student at Loyola University Chicago School of Law, Class of 2026. She is also a Fellow at the Law and Development Institute, where she researches and contributes to articles and other works regarding the legal frameworks and institutions affecting international trade and developing countries.
